Product
General William G. Ward and Bethel Burton invented several locks. One of them was manufactued by Springfield (1871) and tried by the U.S. Army. Ward-Burton.

In other records I've found that 1000 Ward-Burton (Bethel Burton) breech-loading single shot rifles and 313 Ward-Burton carbines were made in 1871 by the Springfield Armory and issued for field testing in 1872.

1871 - 1876 Army trial guns
