Apprenticed to Elija Snell for which he worked later as a journeyman.
While working for Snell, Taylor made at least one Miller patent rifle
in 1833 and one Colburn patent pistol in 1834. He also stocked a Colburn
patent rifle made by Chauncey Snell in 1834. All of these guns were marked:
E. SNELL PT.
After Snell's death in 1834, Taylor married Snell's daughter and moved to Ira, New York.
Although Taylor obtained the remaining parts for the Colburn revolvers, he never
made any after leaving the Snell shop.
