Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company , Hartford, established in 1851, capital $125,000. J C. Palmer, President, makers of Christian Sharps rifles and carbines. On February 22, 1861, Palmer was delivered $25,000 in Georgia State bonds for 1,600 Sharps carbines which had been delivered to Savannah. Soon after the firm was established, Richard & Lawrence of Robbins & Lawrence took charge of the mechanical department as Master Armorer. No part to the arm or its appendages were made elswhere, most of the tools being designed and executed by Lawrence. Dissolved in 1874 because of financial difficulties and reorganized Augut 1, 1874, as the Sharps Rifle Co., with authorized capital o$1,000,000.
