Inventor of the Schofields made by Smith & Wesson. George W. Schofield, Major of the 10th Cavalry made modifications of the Model No. 3 revolver made by S&W to meet Cavalry's needs. They accepted his improvement and came out with a revolver named after Schofield in 1875. Using his name for the new model was certainly made in hope of huge military contracts. |
