Edwin A. Prescott, a former employe of Ethan Allen, invented his revolver in 1860. His revolvers were marketed by Merwin Bray. But his revolvers infringed on the Rollin White patent, which was assigned to Smith & Wesson, and production was halted in 1863. Seems having worked between 1853 and 1875. It is thought that these .38 caliber Navy-sized revolvers, produced in Prescott's Worcester, Massachusetts armory, were manufactured in hope of a government contract. No records exist indicating that any were ever bought or issued by the federal government. The number of revolver produced seems not exceed several hudred.
