.54 caliber flintlock, Johnson U.S. Model 1817 Common Rifle, lockplate and barrel stamped 1821, see Nathan Starr. right side .54 caliber, flintlock, U.S. Pistol, Model 1836 (Army), 8,5" round barrel, some marked OSGOOD GUN WORKS / NORWICH.CONN, made from 1846 to about 1844. Johnson made about 18,000 of these pistols between 1836 and 1844 much of them were altered to percussion during the 1850th. Totally 41,000 of these M1836 pistols were made ant the only two manufacturers were Asa Waters, Milbury Maryland and R. Johnson Markings: Lock: U.S./R. JOHNSON/MIDDN.
