Christopher Crandall Brand, born in Hopkins, Rhode Island on November 20, 1813, died in Norwich, Connecticut in 1875.
He operated the Brand Firearms Company, 112 Franklin St, Norwich, Connecticut (1766-1872), then at 124 Franklin street, from 1852 until 1875 when his son Junius A brand took over the business until 1890. Leading manufacturer of whaling guns. Brand also made breech-loading single-shot rifles and carbines.
