The name Bay State Arms Co appears the first itme in the Uxbridge Copendium of October 2, 1884. A
further notice of January 23, 1885 informs us that the company made 25 guns daily. Shotguns, mainly based on W.H. Davenport's and J.W. Day patents, (pistols?) Rifles, Gallery Peep Sight and Graduated Peep Sight are options. The barrel of these guns can be detached by taking out a screw key. .22 caliber, Gallery and Swirrel rifle, single-shot, 26" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grossness. .32 caliber, Swirrel and Deer rifle, single-shot, 26" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Groundless. .38 caliber, Hunter and Target rifle, single-shot, 26" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grouping. .22 caliber, Boys Swirrel rifle, single-shot, short stock, 20" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grouped. .32 caliber, Boys Swirrel rifle, single-shot, short stock, 20" octagonal barrel. This model is also named Grouse. Bay State Arms Company was dissolved in 1887.
